Adventure called Morocco, part three

I’ll take you on a trip through the Atlas mountains, we’ll visit an ancient Roman city called Volubilis and spend the night in the old Medina of Fes, in a modern café with a group of Moroccan guys who will sing for us. This will also be the end of our trip to Morocco. In case you missed my previous posts, you can read about the beginning of my trip here and about how we started to explore the country and its people here.   25/07/2012 Meknes Volubilis, a Roman flower in the heart of Morocco   “Only 31 kilometers from Meknes, stands Volubilis, an ancient… View Post

Raw date almond bars with strawberries and chocolate chunks

In Spain, the 6th and the 8th of December are public holidays so this entire week was pretty strange. I worked on Monday, had a day off on Tuesday, worked on Wednesday and again had a day off on Thursday. Today I’m working again and then it’s weekend. If it were for me, I could work like this every week. I think everyone would be more productive if they worked less, and had more time for themselves and their families. Stress would be reduced and everyone would be happier… I love December in Barcelona. The maximum temperature is around 15 degrees, the sky is cloudless and in the Sun… View Post

Easy and healthy date spread

Hey guys! How are you today? Fine, I hope! There have recently been some changes in my life so I’m a bit overwhelmed by everything. I’ve just started a new job and my feelings about it are still a bit mixed up. It’s kind of a job I would normally never apply for but…There is always a but. I saw the most adorable bag and I needed money to buy it, so I went to the interview and got the job. I have the craziest stories and reasons to do things, I know. So now, after this crazy week of training at… View Post

Adventure called Morocco, part one

When you leave Europe for the first time and step on another continent, it is when the adventure starts. You get overwhelmed by a mixture of colours, smells and noise and everything looks at the beginning as it is happening to anybody else but you. Everything looks like a movie scene you are watching from your chair at home. But, it is happening to you and all the new impressions, no matter how much they look incredible and overwhelming, are a part of an overall experience and will change your life forever. My first encounter with the African continent was in… View Post

Healthy Snickers bites

I didn’t have anything sweet at home today, which is pretty strange for me. I always have something in my kitchen cabinets or in my fridge. Actually, I had a date spread I made couple of days ago and I had bananas I bought yesterday. I was thinking: “What can I make with a date spread and bananas?” And…Bingo! Healthy snickers bites! Sounds so delicious, and believe me – It is! There is something about that combination of banana, date spread, peanuts and chocolate that I love! These bites are practically irresistible. I just whatsapped my husband, sent him a picture of… View Post

Layered breakfast: homemade granola, chia pudding and nice cream

I just love my blog! Although I have devoted an enormous amount of time into writing travel stories, recipes, translations and photographs, every moment spent on this website is incredibly fulfilling and makes me very happy. I haven’t been working with such dedication and joy for a long time, and I simply forgot what it means to love your job. Today I made my first video recipe for layered breakfast and, impatient as I am, I had to immediately share it with you. Although I made and edited a lot of videos before, making my first video recipe was incredibly fun and I enjoyed… View Post

All the colors of Andorra la Vella

I’ve been planning to visit Andorra for a long time because I love mountains and sometimes I really need to escape the city and relax. The synonymous for a town in the mountains that first occurs to my mind is snow, everything white and blue cloudless sky, but my first impression of Andorra la Vella was completely different. Grey sky, dark grey buildings and the rain that didn’t stop for hours, an enormous quantity of shops and people who push you constantly, aren’t something you expect to see when you arrive to this mountain town. Luckily, my opinion and impression of… View Post

Andorra, the beauty hidden in the Pyrenees

The Principality of Andorra, with its 85,000 inhabitants, is the sixth-smallest nation in Europe. Its capital, Andorra la Vella, is situated high in the Pyrenees, between the mountains of Val de Nord and Val del Orient at 1,023 meters above sea level, which makes it the highest European capital. Andorra is annualy visited by 10 million tourists, and due to the fact that it has been isolated for a long time because of its geographical position, the highest percentage of visitors come from Spain, especially Catalonia, France and Portugal. There are several reasons for this high number of visitors: its ski slopes,… View Post

Healthy banana ice-cream

Winter is coming so I should probably start preparing desserts that are more suitable for cold weather. But, I still don’t want to give up ice-cream, especially if I can prepare it for breakfast and mix it with homemade granola, strawberries and chocolate chunks. I mean, is there anything that sounds more perfect than ice-cream for breakfast? I bought two kilos of bananas last week. It was too much for me and my husband to eat, so I decided to freeze half of them before they went bad. And it was a great idea because, later, I those regular frozen bananas into heavenly good ice-cream. In less… View Post
