Since I opened my eyes this morning I’ve been feeling an irresistible desire to travel, to wander the streets of unknown places until I don’t feel my legs, to photograph interesting buildings and passersby, to find on every hill a perfect spot overlooking the city and to taste the most famous sweets of every place I visit. The one who travels is happy, the one who visits different continents, Machu Picchu, the one who surfed in Australia, visited the pyramids in Egypt, dived in Bali, drank coffee in Italy and spent a day in Manhattan. That person is happy and rich. Travelling gets us…
I’ve always loved Italy. Somehow, every time I think about that country, my heart starts beating faster and I’m ready to jump into the first plane and go to any of its cities, drink a coffee in some Italian bar and wander through unknown streets. There is something in that language that sounds like a song, in the air, in their chaos, pizzas, pastas and creamy and irresistible desserts. When I think of Italy, everything starts to smell like coffee, the true Italian coffee, incomparable to any other. I always loved coffee, not the black one, but coffee with a lot of milk,…
I don’t know if anyone remembers an old Raffaello commercial with a ballerina dancing in a theatre and, at the end of the show, her boyfriend comes and gives her a box of Raffaello. I clearly remember Raffaello as one of the first sweets we were able to buy in Serbia after the crisis in the 90s and, even though I didn’t like coconut that much, I loved the cream it was filled with and the whole almonds inside. And to me as a child that video looked completely magical and that’s why I fell in love with the sweets. Raffaello was very popular in…
You will recognise true love immediately, in the first smile and the sparkle in his eyes. The true love will never look for excuses, you will recognise it by the strength it gives you to keep on moving. The true love will help you get through the most difficult times, standing by your side, holding your hand tight and keeping you from quitting. You will understand each other without a spoken word, when your eyes meet their look will tell you how they feel and their silence will speak more than hundred words. Your true love will always be there, ready to…
So long awaited New Year has finally arrived. Some of us entered it with a lot of noise and broken glasses, wanting to make very clear they are ready for new challenges. Others were shy and whispered their hopes and desires to the New Year, fearing they could scare it away or offend it if said out loud. Whether we want to admit it or not, New Year’s Eve represents a new hope to all of us, a chance to reset all the bad things that happened. It’s a chance for a fresh start and the opportunity to become better and more…
Do you know what snow smells like? No, it’s not just the smell, it is a mixture of scents, colors and a special holiday mood when it looks like you are magically transferred to one of the typical villages from Christmas cards. It smells like snow when it’s so cold outside that everyone is in a hurry to get home, when it smells like wood in the fireplace and when decorated Christmas trees greet us from the balconies. The smell of snow for me is the smell of happiness and childhood, it makes me nostalgic and I start thinking of a far away town and…
I never liked coconut very much nor I liked cakes with it, I even didn’t like Raffaello. As homemade Raffaello was one of the cakes my mother used to make on our Saint patron’s day, she always had to make it without coconut because no one in my family liked it. In the end, our Raffaello always turned into white chocolate balls with hazelnut inside, and we all loved it. Some time ago, since I’ve changed my eating habits, coconut became an essential part of my diet. First, I started to use coconut oil, then coconut sugar and then shredded coconut. I…
In Spain, the 6th and the 8th of December are public holidays so this entire week was pretty strange. I worked on Monday, had a day off on Tuesday, worked on Wednesday and again had a day off on Thursday. Today I’m working again and then it’s weekend. If it were for me, I could work like this every week. I think everyone would be more productive if they worked less, and had more time for themselves and their families. Stress would be reduced and everyone would be happier… I love December in Barcelona. The maximum temperature is around 15 degrees, the sky is cloudless and in the Sun…
Granola is something I always like to have in my kitchen. It’s delicious, healthy and great to combine with all sorts of ingredients. You can combine it with overnight oats, chia pudding, yoghurt, milk and fruits. Even when I travel, I bring a jar of homemade granola with me to have for breakfast cause you never know what kind of breakfast you’ll have in your hotel. Sometimes there are some healthy options, but sometimes you can only have bread, croissants or cakes and that’s really not something I’d eat for breakfast. Better safe than sorry, I always say. Even if I…
„Life is short, eat the dessert first.“ Jacques Torres I needed something sweet today, some creamy yet healthy cake to eat without guilt. When you like sweets as much as I do and you are 30 and something, you realize that large amounts of sweets aren’t good for your body, health, and aforementioned guilt. It happened so many times that I didn’t eat anything sweet for a long time, and then, in the moment of weakness, I eat enormous quantities of chocolate and destroy all the efforts to live healthy. It doesn’t make any sense, I know. About a year and a…
